Le 14 juillet 2009


I took all these photos at a special exhibit they had on the Invalides after the march on the Champs Elysées. You may be surprised by some of the photos (ie the one of the hawk or the gymnasts, performing in front of the Invalides building), but they all do belong to the army staff!

I really love the word "champagne" stenciled onto the big gun. It's like as if when the French fire a missle, a bottle of champagne comes flying out.

Michael, in the French Army, all armoured vehicles and tanks have the name of a famous battle of "fait d'armes" to which the regiment they belong to took part. "Champagne", as you know, is (also!) a part of France where a LOT of battles took place throughout French History...
