Festival de Romans

So... This festival took place in Romans (Romans is the name of a town in the south east of France, one hour away from the Alps). The idea was to allow all Internet creators to show their work and to be judged by a jury. It lasted 3 days (from Thursday to Saturday evening) and was a good opportunity to meet other fellow bloggers, journalists and to participate in the many round tables on various topics.

There were 10 categories (literature, video, comedy, photo...) and in each category 3 sites were supposed to receive a price. On Saturday evening they announced the results. I know it sounds stupid because it's only the first edition of a festival that is not yet very famous, but I was really tense when they started the photo category.
The president of the jury announced right away that due to the poor quality of the finalists they would only be two prices... Then, fortunately, they called my name right away - for the second prize! The first prize went to this talented young lady. I really don't understand why they did not pick up a 3rd price; I'm sure the jury forgot that most of the participants are not professionals.

Of course I would have liked to win the 1st prize, but that is part of the game. It's good to be judged by people who don't know you and are not biased.

Anyway, once again I would like to thank you very much for your support, your votes, etc. It meant a LOT to me. I love you all!

PS: this photo was taken by Christophe Grebert from Mon Puteaux, if you want to see more, check his flickr. And if you want to see the final results in all categories, go here.

Thanks for the summary. You know, we were curious! :-)

I think it's really not bad at all to have finished 2d place, really, and you should be really proud of yourself! :-) I also still think you chose an excellent picture for PDP because it had much more to offer than just "photographic art."

Well, the judges obviously liked pretty young things. And how easy is that? Try riding around Paris on a motorcycle and getting those shots.

Congratulations, Eric. I still think you should have won. Did you get a trophy?

Eric, congratulations on winning second place! You know that in your readers' hearts, you will always be #1. Thanks for the great photos every day.

I checked out "Young Lady". I wasn't impressed. If the four photos I looked at are representative of the work done on this blog, I fail to see any comparison to PDP. PdP offers so much more than just the photos. The discussion than ensue the photos are fantastic on PDP. Quelle domage!

Sasha a dit…

Well, she's talented at getting great photos of herself. Though I'm not 100% in love with the fact that all the photos are of her in some way or another, it was still the photo category, and she's got good photos. I think the diversity and creativity of PDP offers a lot more to readers, though. And Eric, it so does not sound stupid that you were all tense at the festival! You're human. Anyone would be a little tense when up for an award like that!

Pont Girl a dit…

Congratulations, Eric! Second is still a huge win, although you should have won first place, since your photos are fun, educational, inspirational and provocative (plus a whole lot of other adjectives I am leaving out!). Not to mention that you have an international audience, and bring so much attention to Paris!! Good luck next year!
